Invites New Glasgow Centre for Arts and Creativity
Glasgow has long been considered a city of unique culture, with offers unique artistic realms such as music, visual arts, theater, movies and more. Having opened its doors in summer 2009, 103 Trongate Centre for arts and creativity quickly gained a reputation with its array of resources and offers the public. The building – which occupies nearly an entire city block – gallery shows and public exhibition space on its ground and first floors, as well as workshops and studio space on its upper floors. exhibition spaces are currently occupied by partners such as Glasgow Print Studio, Street Level Photoworks, Glasgow Project Room, Capacity Project, Sharmanka Kinetic Theatre and the Russian Cultural Centre – among others – covering creative fields such as film, photography, video, painting, printmaking, new media, ceramics, kinetic sculpture and public art. Workshops and Studio spaces are mainly used by professional artists, but can also be reserved for educational projects, workshops, classes and events focusing on arts and creativity.
The site is full calendar of exhibitions, demonstrations and lectures, open to art lovers of all ages. For example, Photoworks will host the artist Steffi Klenz at the end of January, as she talks about her exhibition Nummianus, while photographic exhibition Colin Gray – Colin Gray in sickness and health – will end his two months running at the same time. Some shows have long been status, such as performance Sharmanka Kinetic Theatre, which runs from Nov. 2009 to Nov. 2010. Finally, the center hosts a variety of events on an ongoing basis, as Cafe Flicker – informal networking event held on the first Wednesday of each month, for filmmakers to screen their work, discuss with others and network with other filmmakers.

Creative workshops in areas such as engraving and printing offer more general instruction, while more specialized workshops, such as senior portfolio classes for students and workshops for teachers engraving offer advice in targeted areas.
