how much money do family portrait photographers make at say, JCPenny or Sears, Walmart… a place like that.?

Im a student at an art school, I have a lot of experience in the photography buis. I just want to find a job that relates and get a decent pay.

Well most of the family portrait session at these stores are franchises which means you have to buy yourself into this and become self employed.

if you are looking to becoming a general practitioner and want to earn some good money do Weddings and School portraits. They give the most returns. Most of your money does not come from the initial pack but from re-orders., which weddings will give you with certainty.

Otherwise, drag your portfolio to Marketing companies who are looking for good staff photographers. General good basic salary to start with, but you have to have very good skill levels and a degree in photography would help

How about photojournalism, again take a course in photo journalsim and maybe also journalism as both skills are need these days.

To make good earnings in photography you must become in dependant/self-employed. This would mean hard marketing and initially get more no thank you’s…just keep going.
