Poses Photography
What is the name of the photograph of the laying of the deceased in the late 1800s, early 1900s?
Suppose that family member died, the family would dress them in fine clothes and sit in a chair to be photographed as a memento final. What is the name of this practice? I think this has been done in the late 19th century.
Autopsy photo shoot involved the deceased. Although an unusual practice by modern standards, this type of photography is fairly common up in the late 19th century and early the 20th century. During these times, premature death, especially premature death of a child, was much more common, and photography was still a bit of novelty. This lent societal acceptance of the practice of photographing the dead, often with some of their family members included in the portrait. This practice may have been somewhat more common in Europe but has been widely practiced in the United States. It is also known as a photograph mourning.
